Dear Dad: Listen, I know we haven't spoken in a while, since you've been dead the past 10 years, but I was wondering if you could do me a favor and PLEASE GET OUT OF MY HEAD. See, I have to tell people about The Moonlady Fest: A Celebration of the Human Spirit, and having you in my brain muttering cynically, "Goddamn hippies. Why don't they get real jobs" isn't helping. I know it's you in there, Dad, because I'm a live-and-let-live guy. If an eclectic bunch of spiritually minded folk want to celebrate the spring equinox at the Bath House Cultural Center with a drum circle, henna tattoos, incense and a bohemian fest featuring folk singing, dance, harp music, Native American flute and demonstrations of aromatherapy and "holistic pet health," well, good for them. No, I WILL NOT go to the festival—which runs 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday—with an air horn and toot it while high priestess Gaelen Ananat leads a ceremony to "bond with the energies of spring." Nor will I demand a "friggin' pork chop" from the folks of Crosby Cafe, who are serving vegetarian dishes in the Bath House lobby. It's a new world, Dad, so let the living enjoy it—even if they are Goddamn hippies. For more info, visit earthrhythms.org.
