Beginning in January 2004, Crosby became a sponsor of For the Love of the Lake's Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-up. For the Love of the Lake is a grass-roots group of volunteers working to improve White Rock Lake and the surrounding park. Their monthly "Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-up" has volunteers patrolling the lakeshore, picking up litter while a "Flotsam Flotilla" of volunteers in canoes and kayaks scours the lake for floating trash.

Each second Saturday, hundreds of volunteers gather at For the Love of the Lake's office in Casa Linda Plaza where they sign-in and pick up their spruce-up supplies (trash bags, recycle bags, gloves and trash-grabber sticks). Crosby is proud to be there each month filling the bellies of volunteers with a healthy breakfast snack.

We began in January 2004 by handing out small cups of our yummy hand-crafted, slow-baked, granola cereal. Two months later, a volunteer asked if we could make the granola cereal into a bar so it could be easily portable. Back to the kitchen we went, and a few recipes later, voila! Crosby debuted their Cranberry Maple Granola Bars at the March 2004 spruce-up. The granola bars have been such a hit that many volunteers eat one as they sign in, and then slip another one into their pocket or backpack to eat later.

Serving as a Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-up Sponsor is another way Crosby continues to support our East Dallas community, including our beloved White Rock Lake at the same time furthering its dedication to healthy eating.
